2. Hosting and technical operation
We operate this website using Cloudflare Workers, provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. To deliver pages, process feature requests and prevent abuse, Cloudflare processes necessary connection data, including IP addresses, request times and URLs, and browser information. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is providing a secure and reliable website.
Cloudflare also provides aggregated operational statistics, such as request and technical error counts. We use these to monitor availability and investigate errors.
Storage of Workers Logs and Traces and Logpush exports are currently disabled for this Worker. Aggregated operational statistics and Cloudflare’s own technical security processing are separate.
Cloudflare also processes data outside the European Economic Area. The Data Processing Addendum linked below describes the safeguards provided, including Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Technical operational and security logs are separate from the caches described below; cache durations are not deletion deadlines for all Cloudflare data.
3. Consent settings
We store your regional-services choice in your browser under “fh-consent-external” so the website can respect it. The choice remains until you change it or delete your browser data. This necessary storage is based on section 25(2)(2) TDDDG; respecting your choice is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the privacy settings in the footer. No further location or weather requests will then be initiated. Location and weather data, search text and search results held in the page’s memory are cleared; late responses are discarded. This cannot recall requests already transmitted or clear browser, server or provider caches. The editorial starting plan remains available.
4. Location and weather
Location features start only after consent and an explicit search or location request. For a manual search, we send your search text to Geoapify through our server. Device location additionally requires browser permission. Coordinates are rounded to three decimal places before being sent to our server. Geoapify identifies the device location’s place name. Rounded coordinates from search or device location are sent to WeatherAPI.com through our server to obtain weather data.
The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. We do not create location profiles or maintain a location database. Technical caches and logs are separate from this. Search text or rounded coordinates appear in our API request URLs and may therefore be included in technical request logs.
For place search and reverse geocoding, the application requests one hour of browser caching and 24 hours in shared caches, with stale responses reusable for up to seven further days during revalidation. Weather responses allow 60 seconds of browser caching and ten minutes in shared caches. The page removes its retained weather snapshot 60 minutes after the original retrieval and rechecks this when you return to the page. These cache directives do not guarantee deletion from providers’ logs.
Providers are Geoapify GmbH, Germany, and WeatherAPI.com, operated by Zoomash Ltd. Geoapify’s default API delivery uses Cloudflare’s global network; processing exclusively in Europe is not promised. For logs of successful API requests, Geoapify generally specifies retention of no more than 24 hours. WeatherAPI’s privacy information linked below does not specify an API-log retention period. Provider information is linked below. Weather data can be delayed or incomplete and is not a catch forecast.
5. Advertising and audience measurement
The current application contains no advertising integration or dedicated audience measurement service. Technical operational and security data processed by the host are separate and described in the hosting section.
6. Email enquiries
If you contact us at kontakt@fishing-hacks.com, we process your email address, message content and associated communication data to handle your enquiry. Our mailboxes are hosted by STRATO. The legal basis for contract-related enquiries is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; for other enquiries it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our interest in responding to your message. We delete correspondence once the enquiry is resolved and no legal retention obligations or legitimate reasons require further storage.
Technical contact addresses: Messages sent to our technical addresses webmaster, abuse and postmaster are forwarded through STRATO to a Google Mail mailbox so we can handle technical and abuse reports. This forwarding does not apply to kontakt@fishing-hacks.com. The correspondence deletion rule above also applies to forwarded messages.
7. Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You may withdraw consent at any time for the future; this does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. You can also complain to a data protection authority, including the data protection authority of Lower Saxony, Germany.
8. Security and changes
The publicly hosted website uses encrypted HTTPS connections. We update this information when features, providers or legal requirements change.
